A Teacher Or Prophet Is Not Always Necessary

A debate took place between a Christian and an Atheist. The Atheist raised an argument about the Pillar Jacob erected on Rachel’s tomb in the Bible (Genesis 35:16-22). The Bible says the pillar is ‘‘there to this day.’’ His argument was that the Bible’s validity hinges on locating the pillar it claims is still present to this day. Once we discover the pillar, he won’t hesitate to believe in God.

The Bible reveals that Joshua and the Israelites killed the king of Ai and buried him under a heap of stones that remains to this day (Joshua 8:28-29). The Atheist was adamant that we locate that pile of rocks to validate the accuracy and reliability of the Bible. He employed identical arguments for the Temple of Solomon and other biblical passages, asserting that we must discover these things today for the Bible to hold true.

In another debate between a Muslim and a Christian, the Muslim asked the Christian to show him where in the Bible Jesus says ‘‘I am God, worship Me.” Several Muslims consider this apologist to be a genius for employing that argument against the Christian, as if it is the only way to show that Jesus is God.

I had a discussion with a brother in the Christian faith. I voiced my concerns about the lack of agreement among our many theological perspectives. The Christian brother, who was studying theology said, ‘‘that’s okay, everyone needs to have their own theology.” Well, if that’s true, what should we do with the many verses in the Bible that emphasize unity? I asked. The conversation suddenly grew quiet.

It’s not always necessary to rely on someone to interpret certain things in the Bible. Often, basic logic and common sense are all that’s needed. That the Bible mentions something ‘‘is there to this day’’ doesn’t imply its continued existence in our era. Without preservation efforts, a pile of stones or wooden pillar from over 2000 years ago would have decayed into the ground. It is clear that these things were present when the writer wrote this part of the Bible. You can figure this out without the help of a teacher.

Believing that Jesus is God doesn’t depend on a specific statement He makes in that Bible stating ‘‘I am God, worship Me.’’ There are many other ways to show that He is God from the same Bible. The president of your country doesn’t have to announce himself from a rooftop if he visits your area for you to know he is the president. You can identify him by observing the security guards and the special honors surrounding him. There’s no need for anyone to inform you about that. So, you can know that Jesus is God by observing the events that surround Him.

The Bible has faced relentless criticism from skeptics throughout history. Many individuals have gone to great lengths, working behind closed doors, to discredit its value to mankind. Truth is, people who criticize and battle against the Bible often struggle more with their own belief systems than Christians do with the Bible’s teachings. Sin remains unresolved in the belief systems of Muslims, Buddhists, modernists, and New Age movements. Atheists, agnostics, and other groups offer countless contradictory explanations regarding the meaning of life. But all these groups treat the Bible as if they possess flawless understanding and explanations within their own belief systems. The Christian worldview exceeds these groups by a large margin in revealing life’s meaning and purpose.

Guard Your Heart Against Ignorance, False Prophets, And Manipulators

If you want to take advantage of a group of naïve and uninformed believers, simply twist the scriptures. There are countless possibilities for what people can do with the Bible’s content, whether guided by the Holy Spirit or not. A preacher informed his congregation that the tithes they bring to church are his, with no one else to hold him accountable except God. He defended his position by citing many Scriptures. After repenting, a well-respected man, considered a powerful prophet of God by many, confessed that he received his powers from the marine kingdom. Over the years, he deceived his followers into believing he was a true prophet and collected millions of dollars from them. One Charlatan in a certain village showcased both the Bible and the Quran on his shrine, asserting that spirits used them to grant him healing powers.

I came across another story about a repentant prophet who had a reputation for his ability to perform healing miracles. Despite his efforts, the church he started in the early days of his ministry failed to thrive. Enchanted by the increasing number of members in other churches and the leaders’ ability to gather large amounts of money through tithes and offerings, he resolved to make his church grow at any expense. Hence, another spiritual leader involved in a satanic cycle introduced him to the powers of the dark world, and he used these powers to lure people to his side.

You are the most gullible believer on earth to think these testimonies are a joke. This doesn’t mean there aren’t any authentic spiritual leaders out there. As we speak, fraudulent teachers and prophets ensnare millions of believers. I’m referring to individuals, both men and women, who deliberately formed partnerships with entities from the dark realm in order to gain supernatural abilities and attract a large audience through miracles. Can you guess what makes these people far more dangerous? It’s difficult for naïve, ignorant, lazy, or busy Christians to uncover their tricks.

False prophets and teachers enjoy generating twisted rhemas from the Logos and replacing the logos with those rhemas. Their enhanced capacity to do so places a formidable weapon of mass destruction at their disposal. With their captivating motivational messages and eloquent speeches, they can sway even the most devout Christian.

The content of the Bible is the Logos. Insights inspired by the Bible’s content are called rhemas. Just one verse from the Bible can spark thousands of rhemas. There really is no boundary. But the Logos and the rhemas should be understood as separate entities. Misunderstanding this truth makes you vulnerable to false teachers and prophets, or even unlearned preachers with genuine intentions. They give the impression that the unrealistic rhemas they generate are the Word of God for everyone in all contexts.

Despite the Logos’ capacity to produce many rhemas from a single verse, most of them offer no benefit to you. Why? In dealing with us, God considers our contexts and individual situations, even within a large Christian movement. This is the point where many Christians make a mistake and allow themselves to be taken advantage of. Their thirst for knowledge and miracles has caused them to overlook the fundamental principles of God’s relationship with us, both individually and collectively.

Here’s the essential information about rhemas you should know. You need the Logos (Bible’s content) in order to generate them. Holy Spirit-inspired rhemas rely on the Logos, just as Holy Spirit-inspired theologies depend on the Bible’s content. Not all rhemas you generate or encounter will be valuable in your specific scenario. You need specific rhemas to aid you in handling the challenges you confront. The rhemas generated by different individuals, even when dealing with similar situations, possess subtle variations. Rhemas are comparable to fingerprints, appearing similar but varying in design.

If you make a mistake with any of the previous points, make sure you don’t make a mistake with this one. You generate the rhemas you need to come out of your challenges by reading and meditating on the Bible’s content yourself. No one else will do that job on your behalf. It’s your life, your situation, your context, your duty. No one has a better understanding of your life and situation than God and yourself.

If you’re really in need, God will lead someone to you or guide you to someone for help. However, it only occurs sporadically, not consistently. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance, you must build a unique connection with your Father. That is your primary duty as a believer. Don’t seek help from different pastors or prophets unless God is guiding you. Do you understand why so many fall victim to predators?

Give Us The Chance To Assess And Validate Your Theology

I came across two Christian theologians from different denominations with contrasting theological beliefs. They both discussed the topic of human freewill. One believes that we have a significant amount of free will to make choices in life. The other believes God is in control and predetermined all our actions from before we were born. I stumbled upon a YouTube debate between two Christian scholars on the subject. Despite arguing for hours and cross-examining each other, they could not present sufficient supporting arguments to convince each other. I realized they will never come to an agreement, despite both claiming to be Christians. Would you like to find out the reason?

It’s a simple and clear-cut answer. Both preachers hold on to inauthentic theological beliefs and approaches in their attempt to interpret God’s authentic Word. The Holy Spirit inspired the content of the Bible, but the theologies of these preachers lack sufficient inspiration from Him. Bias, prejudice, and subjectivity tainted their theological thoughts. Hence, they can’t agree.

When God commands or mandates you to preach His Word, you are merely His vessel. The Holy Spirit takes control of you and delivers His message to His audience. Preaching is acceptable in this situation, since God’s Word is genuine and the Holy Spirit empowers the preacher. Theological thoughts often veer off in various directions because of bias and subjectivity. We teach them so that people can have the opportunity to analyze the evidence.

Preaching lacks interactivity, whereas teaching involves interaction. Who can oppose the Holy Spirit when He preaches through a vessel? However, a teacher is still responsible for presenting facts and addressing student inquiries. It’s even possible for a teacher to be proven wrong in some situations.

What’s the final verdict? We preach what is authentic but teach what needs authentication to allow for its evaluation through reason. Please, preachers, refrain from preaching your theology. Teach it to us so that we can assess, verify, authenticate, or dismiss it. But preach God’s Word.
